What IS a 'Normal' Cholesterol?

Over half of the women who experience a heart attach or stroke have a cholesterol level within the 'normal' range. How can that be?

The standard blood cholesterol panel identifies only 40% of patients who are at risk for heart disease or stroke due to the buildup of cholesterol plaque within their arteries. A new in-depth blood test called the “VAP Test” expands the traditional cholesterol test and reports 15 separate components of blood cholesterol as opposed to the 4 on the standard test. This increases the detection rate of risk for heart attack or stroke to 90%.
