Melanie Santos, M.D.

The Gunn Towbin Center is delighted to announce the arrival of Dr. Melanie Santos this August 2010.  We are pleased to welcome her and have her share with us her knowledge in the specialty of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery.  She brings surgical experience in vaginal, abdominal, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches to gynecologic and urologic surgery.

She received her Masters in Medical Sciences at Boston University in 1999, where her research focused on female sexual dysfunction.  In 2004 she received her Doctorate in Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.  She completed her residency training at Stanford University Medical Center in Gynecology and Obstetrics in 2008.  She subsequently completed fellowship training at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in Pelvic Medicine and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, otherwise known as Urogynecology.  She has returned to California and is enthusiastic in utilizing her skills in women’s health. 

She is a Junior Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and also holds memberships in several professional organizations including the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, Orange County Medical Association, American Urogynecologic Society, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.

Dr. Santos is also passionate when it comes to the fine art of dancing, French cuisine, and yoga.  She enjoys the outdoor life, whether it’s snowboarding, traveling, or simply spending time at the beach.  When she’s not partaking in outside activities, she finds herself enjoying the company of her two adorable puppies.
