Phase I - Wellness Overview for Women (WOW)

The Gunn Towbin Center is committed to help women live healthier, longer lives. Our ‘Wellness Overview for Women’ (WOW) Program was created to do just that.  With a focus on prevention and early detection of disease, WOW gives you a true picture of your overall health and works with you to develop a plan to manage your health.  wellness solutions phase 1

Much more than an annual visit or routine physical, WOW participants receive:

Comprehensive Medical Review and Physical Examination
Your visit begins with a detailed review of your comprehensive lab results, medical and family history, lifestyle, personal health concerns and an extended cardio-focused physical exam.

Cardiovascular Screenings
Because heart disease is the leading cause of death of women, you’ll receive intensive screening for cardiovascular disease.  This includes an electrocardiogram (ECG) and carotid artery screening ultrasound.  The carotid artery ultrasound actually “looks inside” your arteries to detect the early presence of plaque build-up or atherosclerosis.  In many cases, heart disease may be predicted in patients who have no risk factors and  “normal” cholesterol levels.

Body Composition Testing
Determining your body fat percentage is important in assessing your risk for a number of diseases.  BodyStat technology is used to calculate your BMI, metabolic function, ideal body weight range and how many calories your body uses daily.

Ultrasound Body Screening
The Gunn Towbin Center uses safe, comfortable and accurate ultrasound technology to screen organs for early signs of disease. The thyroid, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, kidneys, uterus and ovaries will be carefully examined using 3D ultrasound. Because tumors can grow without producing symptoms, ultrasound offers a unique opportunity to screen for disease in its earliest stages. Unlike CT body scans, ultrasound provides accurate information without exposing you to radiation.

Wellness Profile and Guidance Plan
Upon completion of your testing, you will meet with the WOW program director to review your results and receive your comprehensive ‘Wellness Profile and Guidance Plan’.  This report provides a detailed summary of the assessments and testing you received.  Most importantly, you will also receive a personalized plan with strategies and steps to enable you to achieve your specific health and wellness needs.   If you are diagnosed with cardiovascular risk factors, you have the option of joining the Gunn Towbin Center ‘Healthy Heart Program’ to manage your conditions including cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

Medical services provided through the WOW program are covered under most health insurance programs.  Vascular and body ultrasound screening and nutritional counseling may not be covered, but are quite affordable.  Contact the Gunn Towbin Center for more information.
